Domestic Violence Awareness

San Gabriel Valley YWCA Soccer Tournament & Fundraiser | October 5th 2019 | Goals Covina

From the desk of Gino Jones:

“Imagine a World without Violence.”

On Saturday October 5th 2019 we were honored to participate in the annual “San Gabriel Valley YWCA Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraiser & Soccer Tournament.”

This empowering event was co-sponsored by

Goals Soccer Centers - Covina @goalscovina

A brand new facility, very clean, organized, and easy to navigate.

The San Gabriel Valley YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism & empowering women. Their slogan,

“Use your power to EMPOWER!”

While talking with organizers I learned the YWCA has specific focus on eliminating racism, and empowering women. Two issues that are very important to me. The YWCA is actually separate from the YMCA. The YWCA is highly involved in community and with other ongoing programs and events throughout the region.

Special thanks to @marisadeanda one of the newest members of our #BlackCoffeeFamily

I am so truly thankful for the opportunity to have a public presence to help build awareness for this important event.

The engagement with event participants, victims, volunteers, and organizers was very motivating.

Seeing all public support had a profound affect on me.

About the YWCA San Gabriel Valley

Founded in 1935, the YWCA San Gabriel Valley has been a long-standing multi-service community partner in the San Gabriel Valley region for over 84 years. We work at the individual and community levels to achieve our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, families and communities while promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

The YWCA-SGV is an independent 501(c) (3) nonprofit and an affiliate of the YWCA USA and a member of the World YWCA movement. The YWCA SGV is committed to providing women, girls, seniors and their families with the information they need to manage the critical issues in their lives. Although, women continue to be our primary target, today, many of our services and programs are gender neutral and are open to all regardless of race, sex or gender identity. We achieve this through our multi-lingual community education, residential and service programs in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.

EMPOWER YOURSELF.
